The development of automatic transmissions continues to advance, driving constant improvements in oil specifications. In 2005, Ford introduced the Mercon Low Viscosity (LV) fluid specification, and GM released the DEXRON-VI specification.

DEXRON-VI has a slightly lower viscosity in its new condition compared to previous DEXRON fluids (maximum 6.4 cSt for DEXRON-VI and 7.5 cSt for DEXRON-III). The lower, more stable viscosity improves transmission pumping efficiency and fluid stability over the life of the fluid, as DEXRON-VI cannot liquefy (reduce its viscosity) as much as DEXRON-III during use.

Modern torque converter-based automatic transmissions, especially in vehicles built after 2005, require oils that meet updated specifications, including GM DEXRON-VI and Ford Mercon LV. These oils are formulated to meet the latest requirements for transmission protection, fuel efficiency, and extended oil change intervals.

Using the new, advanced automatic transmission fluid HARTOL ATF VI will provide long-lasting protection for your vehicle’s transmission.
